The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powers connects with a right hand. Zubar shakes it off.

It looks like Ronald Zubar has been cut.
Powers stuns Zubar with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Zubar misses with an uppercut. Powers saw that one coming.
Troy Powers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Powers moves out of range of the strikes.
Powers punishes Zubar's body with a nice straight punch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Powers has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Zubar throws a right and a left that both miss.
Powers cracks Zubar with a good jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Zubar throws a lazy right hand but Powers sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Zubar takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Zubar looks to land a combination but Powers avoids it well.

Powers shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Zubar is trying to defend but Powers finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Powers is pressing down on Zubar's thigh, looking to free his foot. Zubar is holding on for now.

Zubar is trying to control but can't.
Powers prevents Zubar from improving his position.
Powers lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
