Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chad Slone!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cruz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Slone did well to prevent Cruz getting side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cruz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Slone bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cruz's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Slone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Slone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cruz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Cruz has control of Slone's left arm, preventing Slone from doing any damage.
Slone won't allow Cruz to get back to his feet.

Slone has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Cruz defend it? Slone steps over the head and cranks it - Cruz is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Slone!
