Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia shoots in and drives through. Armstrong sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Maia or perhaps it was just good defense by Armstrong which made him look bad.
Armstrong fails with a takedown attempt.
Armstrong doesn't manage to clinch there - Maia circles away.

Maia feints and as Armstrong raises his hands in defense, Maia changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Armstrong tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Maia drops back looking for a leg! Armstrong is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Armstrong manages to kick Maia off! Maia jumps back into Armstrong's guard.

Maia drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maia jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Maia thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Maia drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Armstrong dives on top into guard.
Maia looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Maia had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Armstrong defends it easily.
Maia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Armstrong avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Armstrong is sitting in close to Maia's body. Maia has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Armstrong is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Armstrong is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Maia.
