PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eli Armis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Armis comes to the cage accompanied by Mortal Kombat Theme. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eli Armis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Parker!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armis throws a hook to the side of Parker's head but Parker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Parker moves away from the strike by Armis.
Armis throws out a loose jab but Parker uses good head movement to avoid it.
A slapping leg kick lands for Parker.
Armis jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Parker shoots in and bounces Armis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Parker working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Armis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Parker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Parker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Parker stands up over Armis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parker slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Armis tries to buck Parker off but Parker is having none of it.
Armis parries the strikes from Parker easily there. Parker is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Armis to escape.
Parker postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Armis tries to improve position but can't.
Parker looks up at the clock and then as Armis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Parker smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parker creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Armis manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Parker landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Parker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Armis keeps working.
Armis wants to control but Parker is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Parker missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Parker throwing shots but Armis is blocking nicely.

Parker seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Armis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Parker's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Parker's back!

Armis looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Parker is controlling Armis 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard.
Parker trying to control the position from guard on top but Armis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Armis has momentary wrist control but Parker slips an elbow through the middle.

Parker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Armis looking for a guillotine here but Parker defends easily.

Armis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Parker postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Parker looking to pass the guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Parker lands a couple of elbows.
Parker throws an elbow that misses. Armis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Parker's guard. Nice move by Armis!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Parker dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Parker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Armis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Armis wants to control from the top but Parker keeps moving.
Parker wants to sweep but no luck.
Parker trying to control the position.
Armis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Armis looking to sit in guard and control but Parker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Bob Parker has got the better of the ground game so far.

Armis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Parker defends well.

Armis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Parker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Parker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Armis is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Parker rolls with it to try and escape but Armis cranks on the arm and Parker is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Eli Armis!
During a confident post fight interview, Eli Armis thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
