Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmie Akesson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neil Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Neil Santos is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jimmie Akesson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Neil Santos!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akesson stuffs the takedown.
Santos misses with a combination
and Akesson counters with a left to the body.
Akesson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Akesson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Akesson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Santos's face.
Akesson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Santos to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Santos shrugs it off.

Santos is desperately trying to improve his position but Akesson has a good base and remains in mount.

Akesson wants to control the pace but Santos is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santos jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Akesson walks away with a smile on his face. Santos gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Akesson darts in and clinches Santos up against the cage.

Akesson has Santos pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Akesson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Santos tumbling to the mat - Akesson dives into Santos's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Santos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Santos can't keep his opponent in guard - Akesson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Akesson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Santos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Akesson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Santos looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Akesson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Santos can do to turn this around?

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Santos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Akesson is landing with some decent strikes but Santos is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Santos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Santos is still in real trouble! Can Akesson finish him?
Akesson is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Santos goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Akesson!
