Badolato's entrance music is Nneka - Heartbeat. A fine choice. Darius Badolato could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Michael Vronsky's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Vronsky!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Badolato lands with a thumping leg kick.
Vronsky lands with a nice combination. Badolato backs away looking to recover.
Vronsky ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Badolato moves away.

Vronsky bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Badolato manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Vronsky looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Badolato tries to get to full guard but Vronsky has control of the leg.
Badolato is working hard here to advance position.
Vronsky trying to mount his opponent but Badolato defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Vronsky is nestled in close to Badolato, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Badolato counters with a nice low kick that buckles Vronsky's knee momentarily.
Badolato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Badolato manages to get back to half guard.
Badolato avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Vronsky.
Vronsky tries to pass to full mount but Badolato defends it.
Vronsky seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Badolato does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Vronsky looks to land a strike but Badolato avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Michael Vronsky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Vronsky closes the distance and clinches up with Badolato, looking for a takedown. Vronsky pushes Badolato against the cage but Badolato circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Badolato takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Badolato, right into the meat.
Badolato looks for the body kick but Vronsky saw that one coming.
Vronsky throws a good cross that connects.
Vronsky works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Vronsky swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vronsky closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
That kick from Badolato tenderised Vronsky's leg. Vronsky is trying to keep his angry face on.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Vronsky shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Badolato as he jumps to the side.

Vronsky swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Badolato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nice sprawl there from Vronsky as Badolato shoots in.
Vronsky fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Badolato swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vronsky takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Vronsky cracks Badolato with a right hand to the side of the head.
Michael Vronsky seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Badolato shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vronsky defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darius Badolato. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vronsky's corner calls for a 1-2. Vronsky obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Badolato uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vronsky.
Vronsky lands a nice hook to Badolato's body. Badolato takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Badolato is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vronsky is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
