PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hishi Yamato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeffrey Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller has chosen Killers as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hishi Yamato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeffrey Miller!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller throws out a powerful jab.
Miller throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Yamato.
Miller with a nice cross.
Jeffrey Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Miller throws a body punch but Yamato moves out of range.
Miller feints and then cracks Yamato's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Yamato down.
Miller throws a leg kick which misses Yamato's front leg but catches the back leg as Yamato tries to avoid it.
Miller lands with a thumping leg kick.
Miller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Miller scores with a kick to the body.
Miller lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Yamato avoids the head kick by Miller.

Yamato decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Yamato is looking for a kimura here.
Miller wants to improve his position but Yamato is controlling well.
Miller is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Yamato's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Yamato's back!

Miller throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Yamato!
Miller is trying to stick to Yamato's back but Yamato is turning into Miller. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Miller's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Yamato.
Yamato tries to free his leg and advance position but Miller is retaining full guard.
Miller has Yamato pulled in close to control his posture.
Miller is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
My spies in White Dragon Tactical inform me that Miller has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Yamato tries to roll over but Miller keeps him under control.
Miller slips a nice elbow through Yamato's hands, connecting with Yamato's forehead.
Miller thows a huge punch but Yamato dodges it nicely.
Yamato is refusing to be controlled, as Miller sits in half guard.

Yamato knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Miller on the ground.
Miller seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Miller winds up and cracks Yamato with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Miller connects with a nice short shot to Yamato's temple.

Miller is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Yamato wants to get back to full guard.
Miller is nestled in close to Yamato, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yamato keeps working.
Miller seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Miller swings wildly with an uppercut but Yamato uses good head movement to avoid it.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Miller in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Jeffrey Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Jeffrey Miller seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Miller has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jeffrey Miller comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Miller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
