PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Turd Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Rave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rave is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: What Happened?. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Turd Ferguson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Craig Rave!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rave shoots in and gets a takedown into Ferguson's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rave accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rave throws an elbow that misses. Ferguson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rave's guard. Nice move by Ferguson!
Ferguson postures up.
Ferguson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rave is proving hard to escape from.
Ferguson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Ferguson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rave has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ferguson has managed to get both his arms back between Rave's legs - danger averted.

Rave is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Rave looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ferguson puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Rave wants to improve his position but Ferguson is controlling well.

Ferguson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ferguson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rave manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
No joy there for Rave, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rave darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Rave with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ferguson to score with a decent uppercut.
Ferguson fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Ferguson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Rave gets a double leg takedown into Ferguson's guard.
Ferguson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ferguson is on top in guard.

Rave has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ferguson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ferguson wants to stand but Rave has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Rave manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ferguson is working to get back to half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ferguson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Craig Rave will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Rave takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Rave keeps the fight on the outside.
Ferguson misses with an attempted mid kick.
Rave misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rave fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ferguson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Rave uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ferguson.
Ferguson tries to clinch up but Rave circles away and keeps his distance.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rave scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ferguson doesn't seem bothered though.
Good leg kick by Ferguson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Turd Ferguson is winning the standup battle so far.
Ferguson cracks a nice hook into Rave's ribs.
Rave is breathing heavily.
Ferguson avoids the body shot from Rave.

Rave tries to keep at a distance but Ferguson has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rave takes a knee to the side of the body.
Ferguson lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Rave has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ferguson uses from the top position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Turd Ferguson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Rave counters with a thumping low kick.
Ferguson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Rave bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rave working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Ferguson tries to bench press Rave off him but Rave keeps the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rave cracks Ferguson with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Ferguson sneaks back into half guard.
Rave is pressing down on Ferguson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ferguson is holding on for now.
Rave passes to side control.
Rave throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Ferguson stops Rave from passing to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ferguson wants to control but Rave postures up.
Rave fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Rave goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ferguson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Rave's guard! Nice work there by Ferguson!

Rave isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ferguson stacks Rave on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ferguson!

Ferguson wants to stand but Rave is controlling his arm.
Ferguson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Rave wants to control but Ferguson postures up.

Ferguson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rave knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Rave has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Craig Rave comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rave has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
