Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alan Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jared Michael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bird kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Face the pain - Stemm. Alan Bird could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jared Michael's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bird has a takedown stuffed.

Bird shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Michael is trying to defend but Bird finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Bird throwing shots but Michael is blocking nicely.
Michael has his hands clasped together around Bird's back. He's all about the action.
Bird is trying to control the action in half guard but Michael is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Bird not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Michael is pressing down on Bird's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Bird throws an elbow that misses. Michael uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bird's guard. Nice move by Michael!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Michael trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bird seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Michael controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Bird is looking for a triangle but Michael pushes his legs off easily.

Bird has his foot on Michael's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Michael works his way back into a safe position though.
Bird not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Michael is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jared Michael wasn't active enough on the ground.
Bird tries to clinch there but Michael circles away.

Bird moves out of range of the leg kick from Michael.
Bird shoots in looking for a takedown but Michael manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bird's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Michael stuffs the takedown attempt from Bird. Bird gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alan Bird. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Michael lands a jab to the head.
A chopping leg kick lands by Michael.
Jared Michael seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bird moves out of range of the body kick.
Bird shoots and misses

and Michael counters with a crisp one two that drops Bird! Michael thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Bird to his feet! Bird is in big trouble!

Bird is rocked!
Bird is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Michael throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bird stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Oh Bird is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bird walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Michael swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jared Michael!
A relieved looking Jared Michael thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Alan Bird was interviewed post fight and said 'I still won.'.
