Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 38 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Veli Schwarzeneg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 26 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tony Jaa!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jaa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Schwarzeneg sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jaa somewhat.
Schwarzeneg misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jaa.
Schwarzeneg throws a low kick but Jaa moves out of range easily.
Schwarzeneg shoots for a double leg takedown but Jaa sprawls well. He's pushed Schwarzeneg's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Schwarzeneg fails with the takedown.
Jaa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Jaa tries for a takedown but Schwarzeneg sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Schwarzeneg dodges the punch combination from Jaa.
Schwarzeneg shoots in for a takedown but Jaa shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Schwarzeneg tries to close the distance and clinch but Jaa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jaa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Jaa gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Schwarzeneg got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jaa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Schwarzeneg has managed to get both his arms back between Jaa's legs - danger averted.
Schwarzeneg wants to get up but he can't break Jaa's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Jaa throws his legs up looking for a submission but Schwarzeneg uses it to pass to side control.
Schwarzeneg wants to stand but Jaa has his arm trapped.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jaa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jaa shoots and misses

and Schwarzeneg holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Jaa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Schwarzeneg as he jumps to the side.
Jaa stuffs the takedown.
Jaa wants to clinch up but Schwarzeneg keeps it at a distance.
Schwarzeneg fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jaa avoids it really well and circles away.
Jaa tries to clinch but Schwarzeneg is having none of it.
Jaa shoots in for a takedown but Schwarzeneg shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jaa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Schwarzeneg tries to avoid it but Jaa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Schwarzeneg to the ground. Schwarzeneg escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jaa dives in for a single leg takedown but Schwarzeneg sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Schwarzeneg gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jaa.
Schwarzeneg jumps guard but Jaa stands there with Schwarzeneg around his waist. Schwarzeneg gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Schwarzeneg is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jaa gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

I was talking to Schwarzeneg's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schwarzeneg is looking to stand up but Jaa won't let him.

Jaa looking for a triangle here. Schwarzeneg is fighting it but it looks tight! Jaa pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Schwarzeneg is tapping out - this one is all over!
