Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edward Elric (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santos Tavner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elric comes to the cage accompanied by Lil Wayne - Rolling In The Deep (Sorry 4 The Wait). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tavner shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Elric as he avoids it easily.
Elric has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Elric fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tavner, pushing him back against the cage.

Tavner shoots in for a takedown but Elric shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Tavner is trying desperately to land a takedown but Elric is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Tavner.

Elric breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Elric counters with a good low kick that Tavner was not able to check.
Tavner swings for the body but Elric moves out of range.
Elric fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tavner manages to avoid it.
Elric scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Elric is looking to wear down Tavner with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Elric lands with a straight right. Tavner didn't see that one coming.

Tavner shoots in but no luck this time.
No joy there for Elric, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tavner takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Elric throws a low kick, looking for Tavner's leg but Tavner calmly moves out of range.
Tavner ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Edward Elric is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Elric scores with a decent looking hook.

That has opened up Santos Tavner's cut even more.

Elric lands a big uppercut and Tavner crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Tavner looks OK. Elric waves Tavner back to his feet!

Tavner is rocked!
Tavner tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Tavner is still on wobbly legs! Can Elric finish him?
Tavner is aggressively charging in as Elric backs up avoiding any damage. Elric tosses out a jab and Tavner runs right into it face first! Tavner is out cold! Elric dropped down on all fours and is barking in Tavner's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Edward Elric!
A relieved looking Edward Elric thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
