The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera tries to score a power double leg takedown but Thorhalla sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rivera somewhat.
Rivera doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rivera takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Thorhalla rushes Rivera and presses him up against the cage.
Thorhalla on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Thorhalla throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Thorhalla breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice sprawl there from Thorhalla as Rivera shoots in.
Rivera has been working on his balance at 11th Planet Fitness ($100/wk), so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Thorhalla.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mountain Rivera. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Thorhalla counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Mountain Rivera has been cut.

Thorhalla breaks from the clinch.
Look low, kick high! Thorhalla uses the oldest trick in the book to send Rivera tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Thorhalla is absolutely delighted - when Rivera wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
