PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Velemir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Loblaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Justin Velemir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Loblaw!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loblaw throws a shot to the body.

Velemir shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Loblaw napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ground and pound from Velemir seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Loblaw is not content to let Velemir control the position.
Velemir has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Velemir tries to score with some ground and pound. Loblaw controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Velemir creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Loblaw felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Loblaw takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Velemir in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Velemir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Loblaw keeps working.
Loblaw is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Loblaw can do anything to dispel that myth.
Loblaw is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Velemir's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Velemir's back!

Velemir is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Loblaw.

Loblaw looking to break Velemir's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Velemir remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Loblaw will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Loblaw is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Velemir is defending well though. Loblaw let's go of the attempt for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Loblaw stuffs the takedown.

Velemir shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Loblaw pinned against the cage. Loblaw gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Velemir. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Justin Velemir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velemir shoots for a takedown but Loblaw saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Velemir throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Loblaw can't do much from the bottom here.

You can see the frustration on Loblaw's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Loblaw takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
We've been hearing that Velemir has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Loblaw on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Loblaw manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Loblaw counters with a left to the body.
Loblaw stuffs the takedown.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Velemir.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Justin Velemir will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Velemir throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Loblaw's waist but Loblaw gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Velemir off to one side.

Velemir is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Loblaw is defending well.
Velemir pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Loblaw is leaning against Velemir and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Loblaw lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Loblaw's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Loblaw pushes Velemir back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Loblaw presses Velemir against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Loblaw digs a right hand into Velemir's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Velemir's gas tank.

Still in the clinch, Loblaw scores with a nice short uppercut.

Bob Loblaw seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

A right hook to the body lands for Loblaw.
Loblaw lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Loblaw lands a big right hand that drops Velemir! The killer instinct kicks in and Loblaw finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Loblaw!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bob Loblaw!
An out of breath Bob Loblaw thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
