Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Freddy White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nuno Martins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nuno Martins will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martins checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Martins has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Martins's corner calls for a 1-2. Martins obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Martins lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
White will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Martins lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

White ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Martins moves away.

Martins rushes White and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Martins has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from White.
Martins tries to work over White's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

White pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
White tries to land a front kick but Martins steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
White misses with the combination.
Martins has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from White.

Nice straight punches there by White. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of White.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! White crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Martins - the referee stops the clock and White gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Martins. White manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

White tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Martins was well out of range. Poor timing from White.
Martins fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. White looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Nuno Martins will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Martins dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on White. That did some damage!

White does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

White has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
