Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Griffiths (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Maclaren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stephen Griffiths!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rod Maclaren!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffiths closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Griffiths is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Maclaren defends it well.
Maclaren is looking for a sweep. Griffiths is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Griffiths wants to work for an arm triangle but Maclaren is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Well, if Griffiths is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Griffiths tries to pass to full mount but Maclaren defends it.

Maclaren is trying to escape the mount but Griffiths keeps good control and instead manages to take Maclaren's back.

Griffiths has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Griffiths keeps control of the position easily here as Maclaren tries to buck him off.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Maclaren tries to roll but Griffiths sticks to his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Griffiths is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Maclaren knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Maclaren for a finish.
Griffiths is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Griffiths keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Maclaren's efforts to push away.
Maclaren has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Maclaren tries for a takedown but Griffiths manages to get underhooks.
Maclaren is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Griffiths has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Maclaren uses from the top position.

Griffiths is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Maclaren has his hands clasped together but Griffiths extends and breaks Maclaren's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Griffiths.

A relieved looking Stephen Griffiths thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
