And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kakoullis scores with a punch to the head.
No luck for Grape with that takedown attempt.
Grape fails to land the takedown.
Nice shot by Kakoullis.
Grape closes the distance and clinches up with Kakoullis, looking for a takedown. Grape pushes Kakoullis against the cage but Kakoullis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sotiris Kakoullis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peet Grape.
Grape shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Grape misses with a jab, cross combination.

Kakoullis cracks Grape with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kakoullis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Grape's guard.

Kakoullis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kakoullis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grape on the ground.
Kakoullis's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Grape has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Kakoullis has passed into side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Grape felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Grape is trying to control Kakoullis's posture but Kakoullis avoids it.
Kakoullis wants to stand but Grape has his arm trapped.
Grape tries to improve position but can't.

Grape is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Grape keeps trying to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kakoullis remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Grape is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sotiris Kakoullis will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kakoullis leaves Grape with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kakoullis lunges at Grape with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Grape's hand.

Grape shoots in for a double leg but Kakoullis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kakoullis pivots, looking for a leg kick but Grape is out of range and Kakoullis settles back down.
Grape shoots in but Kakoullis avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Kakoullis counters with a nice body kick.

Kakoullis clobbers Grape with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
We've been told by Kakoullis's head coaches at Gym Beam that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Grape.

and Kakoullis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Grape is breathing heavily.
Grape walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Kakoullis bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Kakoullis fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kakoullis.
Kakoullis lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Grape goes down and covers up as Kakoullis starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sotiris Kakoullis!
