And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick James!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dela Cruz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and James counters with a single leg into guard. Dela Cruz didn't expect that.

James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dela Cruz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dela Cruz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. James manages to get himself to full guard.
James can't keep his opponent in guard - Dela Cruz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Dela Cruz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so James is just riding it out for now. Dela Cruz eventually gives up the hold.
James is refusing to be controlled, as Dela Cruz sits in half guard.

Dela Cruz seems to be working for a kimura but James defends the submission attempt.

James is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dela Cruz pulls his head out easily.
James tries to roll over but Dela Cruz keeps him under control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dela Cruz winds up and cracks James with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and James decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dela Cruz's guard.
