Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Enrico Matta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matta has chosen Velociraptor by SUBSONICA as his entrance music. Enrico Matta is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Enrico Matta!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Sano and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matta throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like David Perez has been cut.
Matta throws a series of punches but Perez avoids them all with ease.

Perez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Matta tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Perez is in Matta's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Matta pulls Perez in close to his closed guard and prevents Perez from doing any damage or advancing position.
Perez passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Perez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Matta, who protects the arm well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Matta tries to bench press Perez off him but Perez keeps the position.
Matta prevents Perez from improving position.
Matta is trying to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Perez tries to advance to mount but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Matta wants to control but Perez postures up.

Perez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Matta has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Perez but great work by Matta.
Perez has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Matta is looking to take a break and control but Perez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Perez is trying to get back to half guard.
Perez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Matta prevents Perez from improving his position.

Perez looking for submissions off his back.
Perez is not content to let Matta control the position.
Matta stalling.

Perez with the active half guard here but Matta passes nicely into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Matta trying to control the action but Perez is working from the bottom.
Perez tries to improve position but can't.
Matta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Perez keeps working.
Perez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Matta wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Matta really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Matta in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Perez manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Perez trying to pass the guard but Matta defending well.

Perez is working for a kimura but Matta is defending it quite comfortably.
Matta manages to get to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Perez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Matta is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Enrico Matta will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on David Perez's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Decent striking displayed by Matta there.
Matta works over Perez's head and body with a nice combination.
Matta keeps Perez at a distance using the push kick.
Matta feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Perez's calf.
Nice sprawl there from Matta as Perez shoots in.
Enrico Matta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Perez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Matta sprawls well. Matta wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Perez gets slowly back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Matta listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.


Perez is rocked!
Perez leaves his chin hanging out and Matta seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Perez crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Enrico Matta!
A relieved looking Enrico Matta thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
