Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Mayo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva's entrance music is X is Coming. A fine choice. The crowd seem to be enjoying Mayo's choice of entrance music: Super Furry Animals - Golden Retriever. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eduardo Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Mayo!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Mayo.
Mayo lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Mayo.
Mayo moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off.
Mayo throws a nice outside leg kick.
Mayo throws a solid leg kick but Silva takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Mayo.
Mayo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Silva looks for the body kick but Mayo saw that one coming.
Mayo throws a lazy uppercut

and Silva counters with a takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Mayo gets back to half guard.
Silva passes into side control, despite Mayo's attempt to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mayo wants to control but Silva postures up.
Mayo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Mayo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mayo pushes Silva off looking to stand but Silva dives back in and keeps control.
Silva will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mayo trying to hold on to Silva's head to control him but Silva postures up.
Mayo is doing well to control the position and prevent Silva from advancing to side control.

Mayo wants to control but Silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Chris Mayo wasn't active enough on the ground.

Silva takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Mayo scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Mayo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Silva.

and Silva decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mayo's guard.

Mayo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Silva off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Mayo counters with a straight right hand.
Mayo throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.
Silva defending well as Mayo loads up on a big left hand.
Mayo throws a looping overhand right but Silva ducks down to avoid it.
Silva closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Mayo wants to clinch up but Silva keeps it at a distance.
Mayo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Mayo looks to throw the jab but Silva is out of range.
Mayo tries to close the distance and clinch but Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A punch combination from Mayo misses.

Mayo moves into the clinch.

Silva gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mayo has his hands on Silva's head, controlling the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mayo looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Mayo dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Silva blocks a jab.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt
and Mayo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mayo cracks Silva with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Mayo misses with an uppercut. Silva saw that one coming.
Mayo tries a low kick but Silva avoids it.
Silva moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Silva on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Mayo connects with a jab.

and Silva counters with a takedown into side control.
Silva tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Mayo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Mayo bucks up and tries to throw Silva off but instead Silva has got his back!
I really don't envy Mayo right now.
Mayo trying to control the action but Silva just sinks the hooks in.
Mayo rolls, trying to escape but Silva keeps control of the position.

Mayo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mayo controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Mayo tries to roll but Silva sticks to his back.
Mayo just trying to survive but Silva is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva has the hooks in. Mayo is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Silva is looking to stand but he's in a difficult position to do so.
I really don't envy Mayo right now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Chris Mayo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mayo just misses with a punch to the body.

Chris Mayo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mayo wants to control but Silva is keeping busy.

Mayo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Mayo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Silva is looking to escape.

Mayo wants to take a breather but Silva is having none of it.
Mayo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Mayo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.

Mayo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Silva knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Mayo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Mayo is trying to control the action in half guard but Silva is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Chris Mayo wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mayo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mayo has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Silva is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Mayo just misses with a punch to the body.
Silva displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mayo throws out the jab.

Mayo bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Silva's head backwards.
Mayo lands a nice looking body shot.
Mayo digs a good hook to Silva's body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mayo lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Eduardo Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mayo misses with a body shot.
Chris Mayo is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Mayo is looking to slow Silva down with leg kicks.

Well Mayo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
