Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rajesh Koothrappali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Newton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Newton has chosen Seven Nation Army as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Christopher Newton!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koothrappali has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Newton.
Newton tries to land a front kick but Koothrappali steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Koothrappali closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Newton manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Koothrappali keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Newton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Koothrappali's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Koothrappali's back!

Koothrappali is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Newton has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Koothrappali has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Newton is trying to stick to Koothrappali's back but Koothrappali is turning into Newton. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Newton's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Koothrappali.

Koothrappali drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Newton manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Koothrappali has Newton in his guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rajesh Koothrappali.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Koothrappali, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
