PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Redshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Yakimyuk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Redshaw comes into the arena with ACDC - Skies on Fire blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 14 - 3, fighting out of Sydney, Dexter Redshaw!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Roman Yakimyuk!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redshaw moves out of range of the body kick from Yakimyuk.

Redshaw shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Redshaw showed some decent athleticism there.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Redshaw stops Yakimyuk from getting back to his feet.
Redshaw scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Redshaw is looking to take a break and control but Yakimyuk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Yakimyuk won't allow Redshaw to pass to mount.

Redshaw is nestled in close to Yakimyuk, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Redshaw connects with a good right hand that stumbles Yakimyuk. Yakimyuk circles away out of range and recomposes himself.


It looks like Roman Yakimyuk has been cut.
Yakimyuk takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Redshaw finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Redshaw shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Yakimyuk as he avoids it easily.

Yakimyuk lands with a hook. Redshaw tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Redshaw closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Redshaw lands in his opponent's guard.

Our spies down at at Homunculus Alembic inform us that Yakimyuk has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

That was a close second round but I would say that Dexter Redshaw will probably get the nod.

Redshaw tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Redshaw has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Redshaw looks up at the clock and then as Yakimyuk takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Redshaw smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Redshaw cracks Yakimyuk with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Redshaw immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Yakimyuk is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Redshaw!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dexter Redshaw!

Our winner, Dexter Redshaw, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
