PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joeseph Moai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mingi Tyyp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joeseph Moai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mingi Tyyp!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moai misses with a hook.
A chopping leg kick lands by Tyyp.
Tyyp takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Tyyp tries to clinch but Moai moves out of range.

Moai gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Moai pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Moai takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Moai throws a head kick that misses.
Tyyp lands a really nice looking cross but Moai seems unphased.
Tyyp looks to land a combination but Moai avoids it well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A head kick misses from Tyyp.
Moai blocks a head kick by Tyyp.
Moai is looking to slow Tyyp down with leg kicks.
Moai throws a head kick that half lands.
Tyyp scores with a jab.
Moai fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Tyyp looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Moai takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick by Moai misses
and Tyyp counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Tyyp thumps Moai with a low kick.
Moai throws a nice head kick!
Moai has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Tyyp finds it's way round the side to connect with Moai's head.
Mingi Tyyp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moai bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Moai walks into a left hand.
Tyyp connects with a body shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tyyp pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tyyp's coach down at Brick Brawlers MMA (13 Coaches) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Tyyp's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Moai misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tyyp misses with a few strikes there.
Crunch! Tyyp slams his shin into Moai's torso.
Moai tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Tyyp is able to avoid easily.
Tyyp tries to close the distance and clinch up but Moai swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Moai scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Moai tries to advance to mount but Tyyp denies him.
Tyyp tries to bench press Moai off him but Moai keeps the position.
Tyyp managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Moai.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tyyp can do anything to dispel that myth.
Moai fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Moai is trying to get an arm triangle but Tyyp is defending well.
Tyyp is not content to let Moai control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tyyp tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tyyp really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moai. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Moai working away.
Tyyp trying to remain calm as Moai controls from the top position.
Tyyp is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Tyyp can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tyyp is not content to let Moai control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tyyp dodges the ground and pound from Moai.

Moai is working to tighten his grip on Tyyp's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Tyyp has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Moai is really squeezing tight and eventually Tyyp passes out! Moai breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Joeseph Moai!
