Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kent Krafth!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krafth scores with a three punch combo!
Smith throws a head kick that misses.
Krafth scores with a decent looking hook.
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Krafth's waist but Krafth gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
Smith shoots in and drives through. Krafth sprawls well.
Krafth swinging wildly here.
Krafth ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away.
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Krafth uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Smith.
Krafth stuffs the takedown.
Krafth fails to land with a series of punches.
Krafth misses with the combination.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt.

Smith gets a double leg takedown into Krafth's guard.

Smith is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Krafth is retaining full guard.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Krafth is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Krafth can't keep his opponent in guard - Smith advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Smith is taking a breather. Krafth says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Peter Smith just wasn't active enough.

Krafth throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Krafth's coach down at Morbid Conditioning School $125 was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Krafth's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Peter Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith has managed to clinch.

Krafth pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Krafth sizes up Smith with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Krafth misses with a few strikes there.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith.
Krafth scores with a punch to the head.
Kent Krafth is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Krafth leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Krafth lands a jab to Smith's midsection.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Krafth blocks a head kick by Smith.
Smith shoots in but Krafth avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kent Krafth will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

A big left from Smith misses.
Krafth lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Krafth stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Krafth wants it to stay on the feet.
A left and a right from Krafth both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Peter Smith has been cut.
Krafth connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Smith has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Krafth finds it's way round the side to connect with Smith's head.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Krafth.

Krafth tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Krafth counters with a two punch combo.

Sloppy strikes from Smith. Those never looked like landing.
Kent Krafth seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Krafth connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Smith's hands.
Smith misses the shot to the body.
Krafth lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Peter Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Smith shoots for a takedown but Krafth saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Smith throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Krafth lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Krafth throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease.
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Krafth sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Krafth misses with a jab, cross combination.
Krafth connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Krafth throws out a powerful jab.

Krafth goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Smith shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Krafth but Krafth pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Krafth lands a jab-cross combination.
Smith tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Krafth defends well and Smith ends up having to push Krafth into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Smith drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Smith gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Krafth lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Krafth tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Krafth manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith fails with the takedown.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith wants to clinch up but Krafth keeps it at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kent Krafth showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Peter Smith's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Smith is looking to take a break and control but Krafth is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Krafth really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smith in side control, throwing shots but Krafth defends.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Smith has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Krafth is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Smith yanks on the arm and Krafth is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Smith.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Peter Smith!
