Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ava Mullen!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Mullen or perhaps it was just good defense by James which made him look bad.

James gets the takedown into side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
James works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
James lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Mullen down.

James has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Mullen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mullen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James cracks Mullen with a big elbow.
Mullen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
James wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mullen keeps working.

James is trying to get an arm triangle but Mullen is defending well.

James is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mullen has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James moves into full mount!

Mullen felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mullen throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
James lands with some strikes.

Mullen tries to improve his position but James has taken his back! James has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Mullen tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! James pushes Mullen away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). David James!
