PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zak Drezner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drezner comes to the cage accompanied by Cypress Hill - Checkmate. Paulo Reyes told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 12 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zak Drezner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paulo Reyes!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Reyes.
Reyes fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
That kick from Drezner tenderised Reyes's leg. Reyes is trying to keep his angry face on.
A jab from Drezner misses.
Drezner keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Reyes.
Reyes steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Drezner. That one must have hurt.
Reyes tries to bum rush Drezner with a series of wild strikes but Drezner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Drezner lands a slapping body shot.
Drezner goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Drezner has been working on his boxing with his coaches at LOD - Quality Training in the buildup to the fight.
Drezner throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Reyes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Drezner, right into the meat.
Reyes digs a good body shot into Drezner's ribs.
Reyes gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Reyes slips under a jab.
Drezner lands with a nice body punch.
Reyes throws a half hearted mid kick.
Drezner throws a sloppy head kick and Reyes moves out of range easily.
A clash of legs there as Reyes blocks the low kick.
Drezner lands the left hand.


Reyes is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Drezner connects with a right hand. Reyes shakes it off.
Reyes is still on wobbly legs! Can Drezner finish him?

Drezner feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Reyes sprawling to the canvas! Reyes rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Drezner finish him?!
Reyes throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Drezner sees it coming and avoids it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Reyes leaves his chin hanging out and Drezner seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Reyes crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Zak Drezner!
Our winner, Zak Drezner, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
