PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kiko Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ingmar Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ace Of Spades kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott shoots and misses

and Mendez counters with a shoot takedown. Scott fights it but they end up in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Scott is looking to stand up but Mendez isn't so interested in that idea.

Mendez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Scott is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mendez, into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mendez is on top in guard.

Mendez won't allow Scott to sweep him here.

Mendez has gone for a leg lock! Scott slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mendez's guard.

Mendez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Scott doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Mendez is tightening it up a little... Scott has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Scott reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Scott taps out! Nice BJJ there by Mendez!

An out of breath Kiko Mendez thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
