The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stern tries to close the distance and clinch but Hadjiev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Stern misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stern fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Stern. Hadjiev shrugs it off though.

Hadjiev feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Stern looking for a sweep. Not yet Stern, not yet.
Hadjiev connects with a couple of short punches.
Stern really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hadjiev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like Dick Stern has been cut.
Hadjiev lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hadjiev is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Stern is hurt! He's hurt bad - Hadjiev fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Stern from any more punishment! Congratulations to Hadjiev! Great finish!
