Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fred Vogel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tatsuya Kawajiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kawajiri has chosen Water Pow as his entrance music. Tatsuya Kawajiri is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fred Vogel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tatsuya Kawajiri!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawajiri shoots in for a double leg but Vogel sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kawajiri shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Fred Vogel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tatsuya Kawajiri.

Kawajiri has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Vogel stalling.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Vogel has hold of Kawajiri's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kawajiri manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Vogel is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kawajiri is surviving well by controlling Vogel's body position as best he can.

Vogel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kawajiri swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
No luck for Kawajiri with that takedown attempt.
Kawajiri shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Vogel sprawls well. Vogel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kawajiri gets slowly back to his feet.

Kawajiri tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vogel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kawajiri somewhat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Vogel wants to pass the guard but Kawajiri is keeping the position.
Vogel is pushing down on Kawajiri's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kawajiri is fighting to maintain full guard but Vogel has managed to sneak the leg through.
Kawajiri is staying active underneath Vogel, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Vogel is looking to advance position but Kawajiri won't allow it.

The fighters are battling for position here. Kawajiri manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Vogel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Kawajiri goes for a double leg but Vogel avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Vogel continues to drive forward.

Kawajiri is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Vogel can't fight it off and eventually Kawajiri manages to take the fight to the floor. Vogel looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kawajiri is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Vogel is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Vogel has escaped and now he's on top!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Vogel is looking for a kimura but Kawajiri is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Vogel to get the leverage.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kawajiri manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Vogel is keen to just control but Kawajiri is a slippery customer.

Kawajiri is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vogel's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vogel's back!

Kawajiri has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Vogel has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Kawajiri is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Fred Vogel will probably get the nod.

Kawajiri is looking to defend but Vogel has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Kawajiri! Vogel pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Kawajiri taps out and this one is all over!
