PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Camatta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cordimana Ocypode (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cordimana Ocypode told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Ocypode stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ocypode wants it to stay on the feet.

Camatta shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Camatta was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ocypode has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Camatta slows the pace down.
Ocypode is looking to reverse the position.
The referee asks Camatta politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Camatta prefers to stall for the moment though.
Ocypode is trying to get back to half guard.
Camatta controls the position.
Ocypode looking for a sweep but Camatta has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Ocypode is in all sorts of trouble here.

Camatta slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
I really don't envy Ocypode right now.
Ocypode turns into Camatta and is now in his guard.
Camatta has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ocypode stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Camatta swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Camatta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ocypode is one step ahead there.

Camatta is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Ocypode advances position into side control!
Camatta manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Camatta is looking for a sweep. Ocypode is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Camatta is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ocypode's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ocypode's back!
Ocypode tries to escape but Camatta has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Camatta has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Camatta is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Camatta is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ocypode!
Ocypode is looking to improve his position but Camatta isn't that keen on the idea.

Ocypode is wriggling around trying to escape.

Camatta tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Camatta is working for a rear naked choke. Ocypode is not defending it well and Camatta has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Ocypode refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Ocypode's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Antonio Camatta!
A relieved looking Antonio Camatta thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
