The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Balboa.

Shouse pushes Balboa up against the cage in a clinch.
Shouse managing to block the knees to the body from Balboa.
Balboa trying to land knees to the body.
Balboa is trying to push Shouse away but Shouse has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Balboa throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Shouse blocks it with crossed arms.
Shouse goes for a takedown in the clinch but Balboa prevents it.
Balboa prevents the takedown attempt.
Shouse managing to block the knees to the body from Balboa.
Shouse fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joshua Shouse . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Balboa as Shouse tries to tie him up.
Balboa tries to break free but Shouse pushes him back against the cage.
Balboa wants to get back to striking at distance but Shouse won't allow it.

Shouse lands a takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Shouse thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Shouse gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Conan Balboa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shouse moves into the clinch successfully.
Balboa is trying to force a seperation but Shouse has the dominant position.
Shouse misses with some punches.
Shouse avoiding damage as Balboa throws knees to the body.
Balboa is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Shouse is defending well for now.
Balboa tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Shouse avoids it.
Balboa tries to stall but Shouse uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Shouse tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Balboa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Balboa wants to land a leg kick but Shouse is out of range.
Balboa fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Shouse is out of range.
Shouse misses with a hook.

Shouse closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Balboa did well to prevent Shouse getting side control.
Shouse seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shouse is controlling the pace.
Shouse is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Balboa!

Shouse quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Shouse but it's paid off an Balboa is forced to tap! Nice work by Shouse .
