Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Van Pol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Van Pol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trent Allen!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pol is looking to clinch.
Allen fails with a takedown attempt.
Allen moves out of range of the body kick from Pol.

Allen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Allen is thwarting Pol's attempts to control the position.
Pol regains full guard. Nicely done.
Allen with a flurry of punches that miss.
Pol is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Allen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pol works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Allen wants to control from the top but Pol keeps moving.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pol is on top in guard.
Pol wanted to stand there but Allen had control of the position.

Pol with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Allen looks to land a combination but Pol avoids it well.
Allen has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Pol.
Allen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pol moves away.
Allen shoots in looking for a takedown but Pol manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Allen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Van Pol is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pol steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Allen.
Pol uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Allen.
Allen misses with a hook to the body
and Pol counters with a solid body kick.
Allen thows a body shot but no joy.
Pol tries to close the distance and clinch but Allen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Allen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pol's waist but Pol gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Allen off to one side.
Van Pol has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trent Allen.
Allen walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Pol lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pol pivots, looking for a leg kick but Allen is out of range and Pol settles back down.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Allen throws a shot to the body.
Pol uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Allen.
Allen misses with a takedown attempt - Pol sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Van Pol will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Allen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Allen shoots in and drives through. Pol sprawls well.
Van Pol seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've been told by Pol's head coaches at Silverback MMA Academy (Elite + Sauna & 160VM) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Allen throws a jab but it's blocked by Pol.

and Allen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Pol bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Allen's corner calls for a 1-2. Allen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Allen shoots in but Pol avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Pol tries to clinch but Allen is having none of it.

Pol throws a low kick but it's checked well by Allen.

Good leg kick by Pol there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Pol walks into a straight right hand from Allen.
Allen swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Pol makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Pol throws a sloppy head kick and Allen moves out of range easily.
Allen on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Pol. Pol obviously looking to wear him down.
Van Pol is winning the standup battle so far.
Pol avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pol throws a nice inside leg kick.
Pol fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Allen tries to bum rush Pol with a series of wild strikes but Pol uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A slapping body kick lands there for Pol.
Allen is breathing heavily.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Pol lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Allen has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Allen and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Pol bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Allen's head.
Pol scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Allen doesn't seem bothered though.
Allen walks forward, straight into a front kick from Pol.
Pol misses with a low kick.
Pol throws a hook but Allen blocks it.
Crunch! Pol slams his shin into Allen's torso.
Pol lands a leg kick that knocks Allen off balance momentarily.
Pol scoring well with a low kick there.
Allen checks a leg kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pol fakes the leg kick and cracks Allen in the body.
Pol lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A looping hook to the body misses from Allen. Pol does a little dance to reset his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Van Pol dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


A slapping leg kick lands for Pol.
Pol is looking to land body kicks.
Pol connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Allen blocks the body kick.
Allen scores with a hook to the body. Pol takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Allen takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Pol scores with a leg kick.
Allen dives in and grabs Pol's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pol pushes down on Allen's head and hops out.
Allen on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Allen throws a jab but it's blocked by Pol.
Pol throws a sloppy head kick and Allen moves out of range easily.
Pol throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Allen shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pol pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pol fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Allen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Pol throws a half hearted mid kick.
Pol is looking to land body kicks.
Pol uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Allen.
Pol dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Allen. That did some damage!
Pol buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Pol misses with a head kick.
Pol jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Allen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Allen throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Pol tries to close the distance and clinch up but Allen swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pol throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Allen moves out of range of the body kick from Pol.
Pol throws a head kick but Allen moves out of range.
Allen fails to land with a series of punches.
A head kick misses from Pol.
Trent Allen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pol scores with a leg kick.
Pol slips a straight right by Allen.
Pol throws a front kick that sends Allen stumbling back into the cage.
Allen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pol pinned against the cage. Pol gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Van Pol has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trent Allen.
Allen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pol is looking to land body kicks.

Pol throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Allen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pol manages to avoid it.
Pol lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Pol, right into the meat.
Allen stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Pol.
Allen's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Pol throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Pol misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Pol instigates a clinch.

Pol breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pol feints and then cracks Allen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Allen down.
Allen has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Pol.
Pol delivers a nice body kick.

Pol feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Allen's calf.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pol scoring well with a low kick there.
Pol lands a nice hook to Allen's body. Allen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Pol tries to clinch there but Allen circles away.
Van Pol is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Pol connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Pol throws a nice head kick!
Pol will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pol lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Allen tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Van Pol showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pol, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
