Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregory Scarpa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gregory Scarpa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pablo Escobar!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jorge Garcia and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Escobar throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A decent looking cross lands there for Scarpa.
Escobar cracks Scarpa with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Pablo Escobar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Escobar throws a leg kick which misses Scarpa's front leg but catches the back leg as Scarpa tries to avoid it.
Escobar turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Scarpa keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Scarpa definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Escobar throws a jab but it's blocked by Scarpa.
A looping hook to the body misses from Scarpa. Escobar does a little dance to reset his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Scarpa gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Scarpa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Escobar tries to avoid it but Scarpa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Escobar to the ground. Escobar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Scarpa misses with a takedown attempt - Escobar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Scarpa shoots for a double leg takedown but Escobar sprawls well. He's pushed Scarpa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Escobar shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Scarpa eats them both and turns towards Escobar to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Scarpa is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Escobar thuds his right hand into Scarpa's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Escobar swings for the body but Scarpa moves out of range.

Escobar is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Scarpa rather than just go for the knockout.

Escobar lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Escobar paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A nice inside leg kick there by Escobar. That's going to slow Scarpa down.
Escobar connects with a leg kick. Scarpa looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Scarpa on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Escobar lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Escobar lands a big right hand that sends Scarpa crashing to the mat! Escobar stays standing though and waves Scarpa back to his feet!

Escobar throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Scarpa takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Escobar is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Scarpa had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Escobar throws a sloppy head kick and Scarpa moves out of range easily.
Scarpa takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Scarpa is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Scarpa walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Escobar jabs Scarpa right on the nose. Scarpa blinks but takes it well.
Escobar fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Scarpa.
Escobar explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Scarpa might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
