Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cosmo Starstryder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randall Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cosmo Starstryder has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens misses with a head kick.
Starstryder shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stevens as he jumps to the side.

Stevens dives in and scores a takedown into Starstryder's guard.
Stevens is pushing down on Starstryder's leg trying to pass to half guard. Starstryder is fighting to maintain full guard but Stevens has managed to sneak the leg through.
Stevens lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Stevens seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Starstryder does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Stevens has control of Starstryder's left arm, preventing Starstryder from doing any damage.
Starstryder stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stevens swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stevens uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Starstryder shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Starstryder just misses with a punch to the body.

Stevens has hold of one of Starstryder's legs. Starstryder is fighting the takedown attempt but Stevens gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Starstryder can't keep his opponent in guard - Stevens advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Starstryder jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stevens walks away with a smile on his face. Starstryder gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Starstryder throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Stevens escapes and throws Starstryder's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Stevens stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Starstryder turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Stevens rushes Starstryder and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Starstryder fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Starstryder jumps guard but Stevens stands there with Starstryder around his waist. Starstryder gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
I was talking to Starstryder's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Stevens working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Starstryder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Starstryder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Stevens drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stevens jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Starstryder is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stevens defends well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stevens breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Stevens closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
