Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hector Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eli Armis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Armis is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Mortal Kombat Theme. Eli Armis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hector Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eli Armis!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armis throws a poor cross that misses
and Alves counters with a three punch combo that has Armis backing up. Armis nods at Alves to acknowledge the strikes.
Armis misses with a few strikes there.
Armis misses with a lunging right hand
and Armis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Alves fails to land with a series of punches.
Armis doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Alves counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Alves throws a hook but Armis avoids it easily.
Armis throws a hook but Alves avoids it easily.
Nice uppercut lands for Armis. That snapped Alves's head back.
A punch combination from Armis misses.
Alves jabs at Armis's body.
Nice takedown defense from Alves. No joy for Armis on that attempt.
Armis throws a body punch but Alves moves out of range.

Armis shoots for a double leg takedown but Alves sprawls well. He's pushed Armis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hector Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eli Armis.

Alves throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Alves thows a body shot but no joy.

and Alves counters with a nice uppercut.
Eli Armis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Armis shoots in but Alves avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Alves counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Armis connects with a good right hand that stumbles Alves. Alves circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Armis throws an ugly left hook that misses
enabling Alves to counter with a crisp jab.
A left and a right from Armis both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Hector Alves has been cut.
Armis misses with a takedown
and Alves counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Armis is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Hector Alves is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Armis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alves sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Armis somewhat.

Alves misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Armis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Alves has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Alves there as he acknowledges the shot.

Armis throws a big shot that misses.
Armis doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Alves counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Alves scoring well with a low kick there.
Armis takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Nice jab there from Armis.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Alves.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alves looks to land a combination but Armis avoids it well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Armis tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Alves defends well and Armis ends up having to push Alves into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Alves pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Armis connects with a nice looking jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hector Alves will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Armis jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Alves throws a nice looking combination but Armis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alves displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Armis throws out the jab.
Armis misses with a takedown attempt
and Alves counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Armis scores with a sloppy right hand. Alves should have avoided that one.
Alves scores with a leg kick.
Armis misses with a straight right.
Nice uppercut lands for Armis. That snapped Alves's head back.
Armis just misses with a punch to the body.
Armis throws a looping overhand right but Alves ducks down to avoid it.
A left lands for Alves.
Armis fails with the takedown
and Alves counters with a big head kick but Armis shrugs it off.

Armis takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Armis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alves moves away.
Alves cracks Armis with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
A telegraphed right hand from Alves misses the target.

Armis looking to score a takedown here. Alves is defending well but Armis drives through and ends up in Alves's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Alves is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Armis defends well.

Armis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Alves keeping moving, preventing Armis from controlling successfully.

Alves working for submissions but it's allowed Armis to get to half guard.
Alves is looking for a sweep. Armis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Alves looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Armis working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Armis is working for a kimura but Alves is defending it quite comfortably.
Alves won't allow Armis to pass to mount.
Alves is looking to control Armis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Alves avoid being mounted?

Alves pushes Armis off looking to stand but Armis dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Armis is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Alves sees it coming and defends easily.

Alves is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Alves looking to hit a scissor sweep but Armis is one step ahead there.

Alves looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Alves will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Armis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alves swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Armis wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.
Alves not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Armis works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Armis seems to be looking for submissions.
Armis wants to pass to mount but Alves is defending the position.
Alves is looking to improve his position.

Armis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Armis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alves's waist but Alves gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Armis off to one side.

and Armis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Alves is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Hector Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eli Armis.

Armis takes a swing at Alves's ribcage but misses.
Armis takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Armis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alves as he jumps to the side.

I would just about give that final round to Eli Armis.
I think Armis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
