Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donovan Bagcal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Macotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Donovan Bagcal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marco Macotti!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macotti misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Donovan Bagcal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Macotti.
Macotti goes for a double leg but Bagcal avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bagcal continues to drive forward.

Macotti has Bagcal pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Macotti pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bagcal tumbling to the mat - Macotti dives into Bagcal's guard.

Macotti keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bagcal's head.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Macotti working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Macotti thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Macotti postures up in Bagcal's guard and throws a big left but Bagcal blocks it.

Macotti postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bagcal is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Macotti, into his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Macotti is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Macotti wants to sweep but no luck.

Bagcal looks to land a combination but Macotti avoids it well.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Macotti is defended easily by Bagcal.
Macotti shoots in looking for a takedown. Bagcal tries to sprawl out of it but Macotti keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bagcal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Macotti shoots in looking for a takedown but Bagcal manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Macotti's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bagcal enables Macotti to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bagcal manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Macotti turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Macotti manages to end up in side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Marco Macotti showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
