Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aloysius Martin Thesz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitali Kersikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kersikov has chosen Dj Nosferatu - When Angels Cry as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aloysius Martin Thesz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vitali Kersikov!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kersikov tries to bum rush Thesz with a series of wild strikes but Thesz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Thesz shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kersikov manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Kersikov wants to sweep but no luck.
Thesz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kersikov's guard.
Kersikov is looking to improve his position.
Kersikov blocking the ground and pound attempt from Thesz.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kersikov desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kersikov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Thesz is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Thesz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Thesz is trying to control the action in half guard but Kersikov is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Thesz throws a jab but it's blocked by Kersikov.

Kersikov throws a body punch but Thesz moves out of range.
Thesz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kersikov has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Thesz moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Kersikov bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Thesz works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Thesz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kersikov seems keen to control Thesz's posture.
Thesz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kersikov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kersikov has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Thesz controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Thesz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kersikov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Aloysius Martin Thesz just wasn't active enough.
Thesz shoots in looking for a takedown but Kersikov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Thesz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Thesz slips a jab and a cross from Kersikov.
Kersikov takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Kersikov does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Thesz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kersikov defends it nicely.
Thesz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Aloysius Martin Thesz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kersikov throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Kersikov stuns Thesz with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Vitali Kersikov seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Thesz looks for a takedown but Kersikov sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aloysius Martin Thesz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kersikov moves out of range of the strikes.
Thesz throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Thesz moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Thesz walks forward, straight into a front kick from Kersikov.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kersikov displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Thesz throws out the jab.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Thesz is defended easily by Kersikov.

That was a close second round but I would say that Aloysius Martin Thesz will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Thesz is looking to land body kicks.
Thesz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kersikov tries to avoid it but Thesz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kersikov to the ground. Kersikov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Thesz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kersikov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kersikov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Aloysius Martin Thesz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Thesz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kersikov!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Thesz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
