PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mr Red (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Mattews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Red might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Where Is My Mind by The Pixies. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Matt Mattews was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Red throws a lazy uppercut

and Mattews counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Red might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Red has his foot on Mattews's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mattews works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mattews stands up over Red, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mattews slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Red controls Mattews momentarily but Mattews frees himself.

Red has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mattews can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mattews wants to control from the top but Red keeps moving.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mattews postures up in Red's guard and throws a big left but Red blocks it.

Red is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Red keeping moving, preventing Mattews from controlling successfully.

Mattews got a little sloppy there for a moment and Red has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mattews has managed to get both his arms back between Red's legs - danger averted.

Mattews stands up and waves to Red to follow him.
Red throws a hook to the side of Mattews's head but Mattews sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Mattews misses with a body kick.
Mattews slips a jab from Red.
Mattews throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mattews scores with a decent looking hook.
Red swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Mattews.
Mattews shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Red as he jumps to the side.
Red misses with an uppercut.
Mattews cracks Red's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Red slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Mattews can do further damage! This one is done, son!
