PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ashton Eaton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Temitope Obama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eaton comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem - Berzerk. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Temitope Obama enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Obama has taken the fight to the clinch.
Eaton stalling in the clinch but Obama improves position.

Obama has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Eaton uses from the top position.
Eaton trying to control the position from guard on top but Obama is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Eaton tries to free his leg and advance position but Obama is retaining full guard.

Eaton drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Obama manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Eaton has Obama in his guard.

Obama wants to get up but he can't break Eaton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Eaton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Obama is aware though and is defending well.

Eaton is trying to control the position but Obama postures up.
Obama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eaton swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Obama is looking to stand up but Eaton won't let him.
Obama wants to control from the top but Eaton keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Eaton has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Obama is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Eaton.
Obama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Eaton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Obama stands up and beckons Eaton to join him on the feet.
Eaton's corner calls for a 1-2. Eaton obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Eaton takes a swing at Obama's ribcage but misses.
Obama bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Eaton's head backwards.
Obama thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Eaton if he has to take too many more of those.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Obama is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Eaton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Obama stuns Eaton with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Obama lands a really nice looking cross but Eaton seems unphased.
Obama throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Eaton.
Obama throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
An inside leg kick lands from Obama.
Eaton looks to throw the jab but Obama is out of range.
Obama takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Temitope Obama is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Eaton misses with a looping left.
Eaton throws a hook but Obama avoids it easily.
Obama throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Eaton stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Obama cracks Eaton with a right hand to the side of the head.
Eaton takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Obama lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Eaton circles away quickly and effectively.

Obama has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Eaton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Obama walks away with a smile on his face. Eaton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Eaton moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

That's time! Eaton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Eaton throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Obama rushes Eaton and presses him up against the cage.
Obama prevents a takedown attempt there.

Obama manages to pull guard.

Eaton postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Obama is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Eaton, into his guard.
Obama controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Eaton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Obama defends it easily.
Eaton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Obama stands and throws Eaton's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Obama wants to stand but Eaton has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Obama keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Eaton's head.
