PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sailor Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Derpens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Disciples of Power - Lords of Creation. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Derpens rushes Gracie and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Derpens throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Derpens swings wildly with an uppercut but Gracie uses good head movement to avoid it.
Derpens lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Derpens misses with a hook from the clinch.
Gracie is trying to drag Derpens to the mat but Derpens just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Derpens tries to land a knee to the head but Gracie blocks with his arms.
Derpens taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Gracie tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Derpens's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Derpens.

Derpens takes the fight into the clinch.

Derpens breaks from the clinch.

Derpens closes the distance and pushes Gracie back into the cage.
Derpens pushes off an throws an elbow but Gracie leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Gracie blocks a body shot from Derpens.
Come on Derpens - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Derpens lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Derpens with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Derpens throws a knee to the head but misses.
Gracie has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Derpens after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sailor Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Derpens escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gracie throws a head kick but Derpens moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Derpens is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.
Derpens wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance.
Derpens tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracie swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice takedown defense from Derpens. No joy for Gracie on that attempt.
Derpens throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.
Gracie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Derpens throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Gracie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Derpens sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gracie somewhat.
Derpens is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A looping hook to the body misses from Derpens. Gracie does a little dance to reset his feet.
Derpens will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Derpens fails in his attempt to clinch.

Derpens throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Derpens misses with a body kick.

Gracie drives through with a takedown into Derpens's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Gracie advances position into side control!

Gracie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Derpens, who protects the arm well.

Derpens is trying to control Gracie's posture but Gracie avoids it.
Derpens is pushing Gracie's head away, looking to escape. Gracie manages to hold on to the position though.
Derpens can't do much from the bottom here.

Gracie in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Derpens is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
