Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 45 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tony Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Mendez tried to score with a low kick but Velasquez checks it.
Velasquez dips to his left and cracks Mendez with an uppercut!
Mendez lands a nice leg kick that just misses Velasquez's sensitive parts.
Mendez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Velasquez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mendez somewhat.
Velasquez scores with a jab to the jaw.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Mendez counters with a shoot takedown. Velasquez fights it but they end up in guard.
Velasquez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mendez tries to free his leg and advance position but Velasquez is retaining full guard.

Mendez wants to pass the guard but Velasquez is keeping the position.

Velasquez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mendez's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mendez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Velasquez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Velasquez lands a big right hand that sends Mendez crashing to the mat! Velasquez stays standing though and waves Mendez back to his feet!

Velasquez cracks Mendez with a brutal left hook that knocks him out cold! This one is over in a flash! Game over!

Our winner, Juan Velasquez, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
Tony Mendez was interviewed post fight and said 'My manager made me take this fight. I really did not want it!'.
