The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lyons avoids the head kick by Young.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Young has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Young moves in looking to clinch but Lyons pushes him off.
Young walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Lyons checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Lyons scores with the left hand. Young knows he should have avoided that one.
Young goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Young takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Lyons smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Young dives in and grabs Lyons's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lyons pushes down on Young's head and hops out.
Young tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Young gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lyons to score an easy takedown into full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Young is trying to hold Lyons in close to prevent damage but Lyons has managed to pass into half guard.

Lyons uses his free foot to push down on Young's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Young.

Lyons has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lyons prevents Young from getting the reversal.
Lyons will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lyons fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Lyons postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Young bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Lyons and the fight is over!
