PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mathurin Kerbouchard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Kollegah - Bossaura. David Steel told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mathurin Kerbouchard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Steel!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel misses with a body shot

and Kerbouchard counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kerbouchard trying to control but Steel is working from the bottom.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Steel is on top in guard.
Kerbouchard wants to sweep here but Steel controlling him for the moment.

Kerbouchard tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Steel has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Kerbouchard tries to reverse the position but Steel maintains control.
Kerbouchard's coaches at Gentlemanly Scholars Fight Club Gym(4 Sprbt 4*+)(1 have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Kerbouchard is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Steel tries to control but Kerbouchard wriggling away.
Kerbouchard is desperately trying to improve his position but Steel has a good base and remains in mount.

Kerbouchard tries to reverse the position but Steel maintains control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Steel is thwarting Kerbouchard's attempts to control the position.

Kerbouchard closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kerbouchard has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Steel after a bit of a struggle.

Kerbouchard is trying to trip Steel. He has hold of a leg but Steel is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kerbouchard persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Mathurin Kerbouchard overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Steel feints and then cracks Kerbouchard's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kerbouchard down.
Kerbouchard slips a straight right by Steel.
Steel goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kerbouchard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Steel misses with a body shot.
Steel scores with a shot to the body.
Steel bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Steel looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Steel tries to clinch but Kerbouchard moves out of range.
Kerbouchard shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mathurin Kerbouchard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Steel throws a half hearted mid kick.

Kerbouchard wants to take the fight to the mat but Steel manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Steel can't find room to land a body shot as Kerbouchard controls the action.

David Steel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Kerbouchard's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Steel.

Kerbouchard moves forwards but Steel connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Steel is looking to chop away at Kerbouchard's legs.
Steel lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Kerbouchard crumples to the floor! Steel milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). David Steel!
A very excited looking David Steel made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
