PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tatsuya Kawajiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anti Hero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tatsuya Kawajiri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anti Hero!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawajiri dodges the punch combination from Hero.
Hero shoots in for a double leg but Kawajiri sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hero has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Kawajiri is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Hero misses with a body shot.
Hero throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Hero drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Hero sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kawajiri's guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hero lands a nice short elbow.
Kawajiri wants to improve his position but Hero is controlling well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hero fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kawajiri avoids it really well and circles away.
Anti Hero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hero throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kawajiri's waist but Kawajiri gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hero off to one side.

Hero tries to score a body lock takedown but Kawajiri shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Tatsuya Kawajiri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anti Hero.

Hero misses with the head strike.
Hero stalls.

Hero is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Kawajiri can't fight it off and eventually Hero manages to take the fight to the floor. Kawajiri looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kawajiri is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hero is looking to work some ground and pound but Kawajiri has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hero accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Anti Hero has got the better of the ground game so far.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Anti Hero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Kawajiri's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kawajiri ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hero moves away.
Kawajiri avoids the body shot from Hero.

Kawajiri gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hero to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hero wants to pass the guard but Kawajiri is keeping the position.

Kawajiri seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Kawajiri on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kawajiri tries to get out of the position.
Hero wants to control from the top but Kawajiri keeps moving.
Hero is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Kawajiri can't keep his opponent in guard - Hero advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Kawajiri is not content to let Hero control the position.

Hero is nestled in close to Kawajiri, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Hero wants to take a breather but Kawajiri is having none of it.
Hero content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Hero is looking to stall here but Kawajiri recovers full guard.

Hero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kawajiri swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Anti Hero comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hero has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
