PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Bentner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Konden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bentner comes into the arena with My Dick blaring out of the sound system. Konden has chosen FIGHT SONG as his entrance music. Nick Bentner had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Bentner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddie Konden!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bentner moves into the clinch.
Konden wants a takedown.
Konden wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Bentner pulls guard effortlessly.
Bentner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bentner tries to get out of the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Konden wants to get up but he can't break Bentner's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Bentner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Konden is controlling him.

Konden stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Konden shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bentner sprawls well. Bentner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Konden gets slowly back to his feet.
Konden throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bentner.

Bentner drives through with a takedown into Konden's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Bentner is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Konden connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

and Bentner counters with a series of strikes. Konden will be more careful next time no doubt.

Bentner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Bentner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bentner perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Bentner seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Konden for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Nick Bentner just wasn't active enough.
Konden throws a head kick that misses

and Bentner moves into the clinch.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bentner tries to score a body lock takedown but Konden shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Konden tries to break the clinch but Bentner is controlling the position.
Bentner is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Konden gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Konden lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Konden.

Bentner shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Konden but Konden pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Konden gets to his feet - Bentner follows without any prompting.
Konden misses with a two punch combination.
Konden lands a nice leg kick that just misses Bentner's sensitive parts.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bentner feints and as Konden raises his hands in defense, Bentner changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bentner wants to control from the top but Konden keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Bentner lands with an uppercut that bounces Konden off the cage and back into range.
Eddie Konden is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Konden doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Bentner counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bentner.
Konden misses with a knee to the head.
Bentner has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Konden after a bit of a struggle.
Bentner is trying to drag Konden to the mat but Konden just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Bentner throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Konden tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bentner is in Konden's guard.

Konden wants to get back to his feet but Bentner passes into half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Konden manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Eddie Konden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Konden can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bentner controls the pace.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bentner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
