Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bill Batson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Van Winkle!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batson misses with a low kick.
Van Winkle throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Batson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Van Winkle misses with a low kick.
Batson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Van Winkle misses with a low kick.
Batson loads up on a big right hand but Van Winkle slips the punch.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Van Winkle.
Batson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Van Winkle momentarily.
Van Winkle fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Batson manages to avoid it.
Batson throws a jab when Van Winkle was well out of range.

Batson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Van Winkle circles away quickly and effectively.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

and Batson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Robert Van Winkle has been cut.
No joy there for Batson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Van Winkle lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
We've been told by Batson's head coaches at The Barracks - LOD that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Batson is controlling Van Winkle's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
