Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Parts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brenden Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parts comes to the cage accompanied by Written in the Stars. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Parts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brenden Abbott!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Parts misses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Abbott has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Abbott on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Parts swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Parts rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Abbott moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Abbott throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

The fighters circling - Parts throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Abbott ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Parts stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Parts wants it to stay on the feet.
Tony Parts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brenden Abbott.

Abbott shoots in looking for a takedown but Parts manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Abbott's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The fighters circle momentarily. Abbott darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Abbott throws a leg kick but Parts sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Parts lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Abbott, as that shot connected.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Parts feints and then cracks Abbott's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Abbott down.

Abbott does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Abbott closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Abbott creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Parts sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Tony Parts has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Abbott tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Parts is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Abbott wants to control for a moment but Parts uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Abbott looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Parts with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Abbott is nestled in close to Parts, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Abbott landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Abbott is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Parts wants to get back to full guard.

Brenden Abbott comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Abbott has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
