Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mickey Spillane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gregory Scarpa!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spillane throws a shot from downtown. Scarpa moves away and avoids it.
Scarpa uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Spillane.
Scarpa jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Spillane misses the shot to the body.
Scarpa tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Spillane is able to avoid easily.
Spillane throws a poor cross that misses

and Scarpa counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Spillane's guard now.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Spillane not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Scarpa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Scarpa is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Scarpa throws a big right hand that misses.
Spillane pulls Scarpa in to control the position.
Spillane utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Scarpa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Spillane keeping moving, preventing Scarpa from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scarpa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spillane swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Spillane is controlling Scarpa's posture.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Spillane misses with a low kick.
We've been told by Spillane's head coaches at The Charles Martel School of Greatness that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Scarpa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Spillane is fending him off so far but Scarpa persists. Nope, Spillane circles away and we're back to standing.
Spillane bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Scarpa's head.
Scarpa uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Spillane.
Scarpa has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Scarpa moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Spillane misses with a hook.
Spillane loads up on a big right hand but Scarpa slips the punch.
Spillane takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Scarpa wants to land a leg kick but Spillane is out of range.
Spillane misses the shot to the body.
Scarpa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Spillane throws out the jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Spillane shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scarpa pinned against the cage. Scarpa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Spillane just misses with a punch to the body.
Spillane swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Spillane avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Spillane slaps away a takedown attempt from Scarpa, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Scarpa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Spillane napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Spillane managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Scarpa.
Spillane tries to bench press Scarpa off him but Scarpa keeps the position.
Spillane tries to control but Scarpa manages to take his back.
You can see the frustration on Spillane's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Scarpa struggling to land strikes to the head as Spillane covers up.
I really don't envy Spillane right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Scarpa missing with strikes from the back.
Spillane wants to control his opponent's hands but Scarpa gets his hands free.
Scarpa controlling well, preventing Spillane from escaping the position.
Scarpa struggling to land strikes to the head as Spillane covers up.
Spillane tries to roll but Scarpa sticks to his back.
Spillane is covering up but some of the strikes from Scarpa are getting through and doing damage.
Scarpa has the hooks in. Spillane is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Spillane has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Scarpa.

Scarpa is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Spillane with him. Spillane is trying to defend but Scarpa has an arm under the chin now! Spillane grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gregory Scarpa!
After winning the bout, Gregory Scarpa thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
