PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kenton Hewitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Clow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenton Hewitt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jordan Clow!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Clow rushes Hewitt and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Clow can't break the clinch.
Hewitt tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Clow smiles and moves away.

Hewitt tries to keep at a distance but Clow has taken the fight into the clinch.

Clow pulls guard effortlessly.
Hewitt throws a big right hand that misses.
Hewitt in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Clow is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hewitt is controlling him.
Hewitt loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hewitt trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Clow is working an open guard so Hewitt takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Clow shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hewitt pinned against the cage. Hewitt gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hewitt fails with an attempt to clinch.

Clow has closed the distance and engaged Hewitt in a clinch.
Hewitt is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Clow gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Hewitt pulls Clow into guard.
Hewitt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Clow controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hewitt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Clow trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hewitt's guard.
Hewitt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hewitt is adopting a defensive guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kenton Hewitt just wasn't active enough.
Clow is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hewitt sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hewitt stuffs the takedown.
Kenton Hewitt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan Clow.
Hewitt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Clow counters with a solid body kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hewitt wants a takedown.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Hewitt tries for a takedown. No joy.
Hewitt has Clow pressed against the cage, preventing Clow from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
The referee is keeping an eye on Clow - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Hewitt pulls guard successfully.
Hewitt lands a good elbow from the bottom.
Hewitt is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hewitt's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kenton Hewitt just wasn't active enough.
Hewitt defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Clow.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hewitt tries to sprawl but Clow drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hewitt trying to hold on to Clow's head to control him but Clow postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kenton Hewitt will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Clow shoots in and bounces Hewitt off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hewitt trying to keep a closed guard but Clow is proving a slippery customer.
Hewitt tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Clow wants to control from the top but Hewitt keeps moving.
Clow wants to stand and escape but instead Hewitt has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Clow looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hewitt has picked Clow up and slammed him! Clow can't keep hold of the triangle and Hewitt manages to pass to side control!
Hewitt will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Clow is not content to let Hewitt control the position.
Clow is looking to reverse the position.

Hewitt is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Clow has escaped the position, nice work there.

Hewitt tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Clow wants to control but Hewitt postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hewitt working the head and body with strikes.

Hewitt stands up and beckons Clow to his feet.

Clow changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hewitt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Clow is breathing heavily.
Hewitt struggling a bit here.

Clow working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Hewitt taking punishment in the form of punches.
Hewitt can't do much from the bottom here.
Hewitt is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Clow content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Clow working away.
Clow tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Clow wants to control but Hewitt is keeping him busy.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Clow displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hewitt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jordan Clow will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Clow has taken the fight to the clinch.

Clow breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kenton Hewitt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Clow is defended easily by Hewitt.
Clow shoots in but Hewitt avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Clow throws a head kick that misses
and Hewitt counters with a head kick.
Hewitt is looking to clinch.
Clow looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kenton Hewitt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan Clow.
Clow takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hewitt closes the distance and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Clow breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hewitt moves into the clinch.
Clow struggles to land a body shot inside as Hewitt controls his hands.

Hewitt manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Clow trying to control but Hewitt is working from the bottom.
Clow must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Clow might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hewitt haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hewitt tries to land a sweep but no joy.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Hewitt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Clow gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hewitt is adopting a defensive guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Clow dives in for a single leg takedown but Hewitt sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hewitt has clasped his hands together around Clow's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hewitt landing strikes.

Hewitt tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Clow wants to get back to his feet.
Clow holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Clow is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Hewitt stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Clow closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hewitt did well to prevent Clow getting side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hewitt is looking to escape.
Hewitt is looking to improve his position.
Hewitt is looking to control Clow's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hewitt avoid being mounted?
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Clow seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kenton Hewitt showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hewitt has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
