Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cornell Odonnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sho Kosugi!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Odonnell rushes Kosugi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kosugi is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Odonnell to keep the fight standing.
Odonnell gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kosugi.

Odonnell pulls guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Odonnell pulls Kosugi in close to prevent any damage.
Kosugi tries to free his leg and advance position but Odonnell is retaining full guard.
Odonnell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cornell Odonnell wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Odonnell scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Odonnell is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kosugi has escaped the position, nice work there.
A control attempt from Kosugi but he's now mounted!
Odonnell fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Odonnell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Odonnell lands a couple of good shots and Kosugi has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Kosugi is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Odonnell.
Odonnell is punishing Kosugi with some ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Odonnell is hanging on to Kosugi's back as he tries to escape.
Odonnell is not going to allow Kosugi to sit and survive in this position.
Odonnell is landing with strikes from the back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Odonnell has Kosugi flattened out and is raining down punches.

Odonnell is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Kosugi has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Odonnell connects with a big shot to the side of Kosugi's head.
Kosugi is trapped and Odonnell is scoring with shots to the head and body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Odonnell.

Odonnell is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kosugi is defending well though. Odonnell let's go of the attempt for now.
Kosugi takes a big shot to the side of the head.
You can see the frustration on Kosugi's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.




Sho Kosugi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
