Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexej Stepanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Konuhov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Konuhov has chosen Art of War as his entrance music. Alexej Stepanov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexej Stepanov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fedor Konuhov!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Konuhov shoots in for a double leg but Stepanov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Stepanov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Konuhov.
Konuhov misses with a takedown attempt
and Stepanov counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Stepanov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stepanov wants it to stay on the feet.
Alexej Stepanov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Konuhov.
Konuhov tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stepanov defends well and Konuhov ends up having to push Stepanov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Stepanov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Konuhov throws a big elbow that misses.
Konuhov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Stepanov's head.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Konuhov working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Konuhov stands up over Stepanov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Konuhov postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Stepanov looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Konuhov puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Stepanov is looking to control Konuhov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stepanov avoid being mounted?

Stepanov wants to get back to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stepanov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Konuhov on the ground.

Konuhov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Stepanov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Konuhov scores with a couple of nice shots.

Konuhov is looking for a kimura but Stepanov is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Konuhov to get the leverage.

Konuhov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stepanov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Konuhov lands a nice short elbow.

Konuhov is looking for a kimura but Stepanov is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Konuhov to get the leverage.

Konuhov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stepanov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Konuhov.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stepanov tries to get to full guard but Konuhov has control of the leg.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Konuhov is working for a kimura but Stepanov is defending it quite comfortably.
Konuhov throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Stepanov to regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fedor Konuhov dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Stepanov swings for the body but Konuhov moves out of range.
Stepanov stuffs the takedown.
Konuhov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stepanov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Konuhov somewhat.

Stepanov gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Konuhov regains guard.
Konuhov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Konuhov is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Stepanov rolls with it to try and escape but Konuhov cranks on the arm and Stepanov is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Fedor Konuhov!
Fedor Konuhov really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that CEC Nutrition Q160 logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
